چکیده
Objective: Effect of oleanolic acid against hexavalent chromium-induced altered brain energy metabolism associated with oxidative stress was evaluated in the present study. Methods: Swiss albino mice were divided into three groups, Control (n=6), chromium-treated and (OA) supplemented (n=6). The chromium treated group orally administered K2Cr2O7 for 30 days at a dose 10 mg/kg b.w/day. OA supplementation given 5 bw/day past 14 treatment. received vehicle only. After treatment, whole removed examining parameters such as pyruvic acid, free amino nitrogen, tissue protein, TCA cycle enzyme activities, NADH dehydrogenase function, markers. Results: Significant decrease cerebral content suppressed malate succinate activities observed. activity inhibited owing to enhanced accumulation tissue. Depletion proteins increased nitrogen accompanied cathepsin, pronase trypsin transaminase function. In addition, GSH decreased along lipid peroxidation, oxidized GSSG content, TG/GSSG ratio, carbonylated protein hydroxyl radical formation. Superoxide dismutase, catalase, glutathione reductase, peroxidase also by chromium. Oleanolic found have significant protective effect metabolic dysfunctions. Conclusion: study elucidated therapeutic efficacy toxicity mice.

متن کاملProtective effect of oleanolic acid against chemical-induced acute necrotic liver injury in mice.
AIM To evaluate the protective effect of oleanolic acid (OA) against necrotic liver injury. METHODS Mice were pretreated with OA (200 mumol.kg-1, sc for 3 d), and subsequently administered hepatotoxicants. Liver damage was assessed by quantifying serum activities of alanine aminotransferase and iditol (sorbitol) dehydrogenase, as well as by histopathological examination. RESULTS OA pretreat...
متن کاملAcute severe chromium poisoning after dermal exposure to hexavalent chromium.
Severe acute chromium poisoning related to dermal involvement has rarely been reported in the literature. We report a case of acute severe chromium poisoning through skin exposure as a result of a chemical burn of 15% of the body surface area and multiple organ failure after short-term exposure. Medical interventions, including mechanical ventilation, continuous venovenous hemofiltration, and p...
متن کاملHistopathological and biochemical changes in rat thyroid following acute exposure to hexavalent chromium.
Chromium in hexavalent form is highly toxic and a known carcinogen, although its effects on thyroid structure and function are relatively unexplored. Workers in an industrial environment can be, at times, exposed to this form of chromium. The present study was, therefore, designed using laboratory rats as a model system to investigate the effect on thyroid structure and function following two a...
